BAR gauge past 5? oil pressure tohigh? 200 1984

Hello bricksters!
Need help.
I have an 84 240ti and the BAR gauge is always past 5. Is the gauge smoked? Or is the oil pressure not good? I presume that is the oil pressure right? And sometimes the oil light blinks on the insturment display. Maybe a bad sending unit or oil pump?
