Bright lights on, engine off. 700

Okay, here's the deal. Last night while driving home, the engine would die whenever I would switch to high beams. I also noticed that the driver's side headlight is dimmer that the passenger's and that the front driver's parking light brightens and dims when the headlights are turned off and on. I have ordered a replacement wiring harness from Dave Barton. Should this fix the problem, or do I need to look for other faults?
