Hi All
My Amazon is a grumbly starter in the damp winter months, and on some occasions not a starter at all. Characterised by engine turning over but not sparking, sometimes starting on the 4th or 5th try, and sometimes the starter getting so tired that you have to give up. This is England we're talking about, so the cold is a wet cold.
Can I have some advice on how best to prevent this non-starting and maybe cure it. I have various sprays that you use on leads and distributor, but where else do I use them and am I doing more harm than good? And is there a spray that is preventative (to last the whole winter) rather than using as a cure every time. Perhaps there is a kind of waterproof sleave that I can run over the leads to stop moisture affecting them. Should I pull out the spark-plugs every time and dry them or again is there a prevention for this?
I apologise if this is a bit basic, but your advice would greatly improve my life (and stop my girlfriend laying it on every time about "should have bought that new car").
Thanks people.
Rick
