engine transplan/Transmission conflict? or just damaged? 700 1988

I have a beautiful 740 turbo wagon with a dead engine. I had a nice 240 with a great engine, same year but non-turbo. my neigobor and I are installing the non-turbo engine in the 740, all seems to be going well aside from the mating of the tranny to the engine. the engine spins freely until bolted tightly to the tranny, at that point, it's frozen in place.

Possible problem: My neighbor and another friend "Helped" me out by begining the initial install without me. it did not go well, the engine and trans were not paralell and I told them DO NOT tighten it up until it's perfectly paralell. They tightened it anyway and the flywheel suffered a little warping (it was not bolted to the torque converter at the time) we took the engine back out and discovered the flywheel won't turn completely, it catches on the housing. we straightened it out enough for it to spin freely though and we attempted another install.

As mentioned, the engine and trans for that matter seem to spin freely untill the bolts are tightened. DOes it sound like I just need a new fly wheel? Can a flywhel be straightned out? or, and I hate to ask,is there a problem mating a B230 to a 740 turbo's automatic transmission? I wanted to make sure that compatability wasn't an issue before I put too much more effort into the project.

thanks

Richard
