Patient: 1988 240DL 129k on the clock, Standard B230F/M47 combination
Symptoms: Starts beautifully 95%+ of the time. One or two cranks and we have fire. However, if the engine is running, then turned off, it refuses to start again until about 2-5 minutes after it was turned off. No amount of cranking will get it started, just as though the coil is unplugged. Engine temperature does not appear to be a factor -- it does it hot or cold. Quite embarassing when you pull up to a gas pump, realize it's not the one you need, then try to motor to another....the car won't start and you have to sit for a bit. Not a big deal, just annoying. Once that 2-5 minute period has passed, it fires up on the first one or two rotations as though nothing happened. Puzzling, no? Ideas?
