Greetings·Brickboarders,
My 1990 240 has started not starting after a year and a half of reliable service to me. The starter operates fine about half the time but when it is acting up it just stops cranking like the wire to the solenoid was pulled off while I held the key in start position. Now, I've got a good starter, new and correctly adjusted neutral safety switch, and a new battery to starter cable.
What is with the wire from the ignition to the solenoid? It measures 12 volts with the ignition on but not in the start position. Is this correct? I was thinking that there would be no current until the key was turned to start position. Any thoughts or recommendation would be greatle appreciated. I've taken to carrying a big screwdriver to jump cross the solenoid for a start.
Thanks,
Rustin
