fuel pump 200 1977

Greetings all-

I am getting is loud whining in the back of the car, I have isolated the sound, it is coming directly below my trunk. Not knowing much about fuel pumps, I did know to take off the gas cap and have a listen inside the tank. It was there, and really loud.

Ona seperate but possibly related note, got on the highway the other day, and when trying to go into 4th, it was hesitating on me. Not gear related, but it seemed like a fuel issue. BTW, the fuel pump was changed not that long ago. Also, it seems to be eating alot of gas lately.

If it is the fuel pump, could someone give me a few pointer? This is a new issue to me.
