driving with a leaking water pump seal 200 1990

Hi Bricksters.

Thanks for the responses on my water pump issue. From my observations, it looks like the top seal is leaking.I plan to goahead and replace the whole unit and also the thermostat next week. Is it OK to drive the car short distances or just leave it parked until i can replace these parts? Thanks again.
