Ok. I have spent a while going through the FAQ and archives but haven't found the similar problem to my current situation. Here's the current problem with my '86 240 with 185k miles. I have in the past month replaced the exhaust (welded with battery disconnected), both fuel pumps (the main had died), the fuel sending unit, fuel filter, resoldered the fuel pump relay, cleaned the 25 amp fuse under the hood. The car runs fine the majority of the time, but every other time I drive it, about 2 minutes into the drive it loses power. Warm or cold, it doesn't discriminate. The throttle is often unresponsive after the 1/2 way point. 60 mph is about the fastest I can expect. Upon pressing the pedal further the engine will bog down and occasionally backfire slightly as if it is running very lean. If I pull the car over to the roadside - it idles perfectly fine. Now here's the important part: Once this condition starts it will continue indefinitely UNTIL I stop the engine and restart it. At that point the problem clears up until the next drive. Ok, now I am ready for suggestions. Thanks a ton in advance - You guys are a huge help!!
Thanks,
Craig
