recommend a multimeter? 900 1993

I need to buy a multimeter to track down a few electrical gremlins on my '93 945T. Does anyone have a particular make/model of multimeter that you're really happy with, and can recommend? Or advise on the range of measurements I should look for?

I'd rather not spend $60 if a $25 unit will do... OTOH I don't want to be up to my elbows in you-know-what only to discover my meter can't tell me if my knock sensor (or whatever) is good/no good.
