I think I killed the Turbo. Need help ASAP

I was just out in the freezing cold, working on the new turbo car.

I pulled the idle valve off and cleaned it out with wd40, put new hoses that attach it on.

I check the turbo for end play. lmost none, on the original turbo 190Km on it.

I put all the IC piping back on. Start it up, wholly crap the turbo is screaming!! I thought, maybe when i was checking for end play I pushed too hard, so I pull it back apart, pull the shaft towards me, even tho earlier when I check there is no horizontal movment. I think, for some reason it has no oil pressure, so I pull the coil and turn it over, oil light goes off, oil pressurized, Try and start it. Screams again, revs up, then dies, almost like it has a huge vaccum leak.

Any Ideas? I have a no so great condition watercooled turbo sitting on my work bench. But I don't ahve the rest of the kit to actaully make it water cooled.

So,

what can it be?

if its the turbo shot, i killed it, can i run the watercooled turbo without the watercooling for the time being? until I can peice together a kit?

This isn't my car, I'm just supposed to make it run better. Its my step bro's and needs it in the next few days....

Reply here, I'm not at home so no e-mail access...
Thanks

Jordan
