Any ideas, turbo experts? 700

My engine continues to smoke, I did a little test suggested to me elsewhere (run engine, remove oil filler cap and feel for pulsating air) and I cannot feel any noticable pulsation of air. I suspect a blown headgasket as the engine has overheated twice, once the waterpump went. Is it possible for a blown headgasket to make smoke come out of the oil filler cap and the oil dipstick? Could this too be water?

I let the engine idle for 40 minutes today, the smoke level remained constant and at no point was there any noticable pulsation from the oil filler hole. Now, there was no coolant loss to mention although I suspect several pints of water went out the exhaust. The engine seems to refuse getting any hotter than 1/4 on the temp gauge (I know this reading may be wrong) and when I rev the engine, I can not get the turbo boost gauge to go any higher than the black, it will not go into the yellow section.

I also noticed that the oil pressure warning light comes on below 1200 rpm, above that it disappears. The oil level seems fine.

Thank the Lord my diesel is in perfect nick so I can have a car to enjoy.

George
