Synchros 700

Bad news. Our 1990 740T wagon does have 1st and 2nd synchros going bad. I've spent some time making sure the clutch is releasing and reverse lockout plate is adjusted correctly. Thought I had it solved but was wrong. Also, changed tranny lube and ran it for a while...no help. We love this car and otherwise it is a peach. So? Should I find a good shop to rebuild this tranny or search for a junker and take a change. Opinions appreciated.
