British and American terminology 700

As a British contributor to this site I wondered if members might find it useful to have a comparison of British and American terminology. I know this is an American run site with American terms being the norm (which I happily accept) but it might still be useful (or interesting?!!) to compare and contrast, so here are a few common ones to start with. I'd welcome more from anyone out there:

American British

Hood Bonnet
Trunk Boot
Sedan Saloon
Wagon Estate
Wrench Spanner
Oil pan Sump
Tachomete Rev Counter (but tachometer as well)
Rotor (brakes) Brake disc or just "Disc"
Gas Petrol
Diesel Diesel (we actually have diesel Volvos!)
Freeway/ Interstate Motorway
Idling Ticking over (but idling as well)
Stock (as in original) Original or Factory spec
Indy Just "mechanic"

Also in the UK the 740 series never used 744 and 745 model numbers, just 740
I hope this generates some interest.
