Magnefine filter hose leaks. 900 1993

I've been using Magnafine filters from IPD in my PS and trans lines for the last 6 months - no problems. Then suddenly the trans line starts leaking from the 3/8" rubber hose IPD gives you with the filter. Slight leaks, from both where the hose clamps into the steel line and where it goes into the filter. Replaced all hoses and clamps, and it's still happening, no matter how tightly the hose is clamped to the line.

I've always thought that the 3/8" hose they give you is a little too big for the steel line. Could this be the problem? Or perhaps the cold weather? Does anyone have any similar experiences or suggestions?
