long term cost of ownership of 16valve vs. bmw or turbo volvo. 700

Ok, so I saw the post a few pages down about the turbo vs. gle. It got me thinking (damnit! I hate when I start thinking!). What is an etimated cost of long term ownership of a 90 16v 745 with 150k vs. a turbo 745 with same miles and such or a 86 bmw 325e 160k(my other car)? It seems like every time I think I have that volvo to a reliable state that something else comes up and I'm in this forum again trying to figure something out and/or spending money on it. Ok the beamer now; I like it. It is very fun to drive and kinda fast(2.7L german inline 6!). I bought a used odometer off of ebay for the same model that had 400k on it. I don't get that same warm fuzzy feeling about that 16v. It seems that most of these engines start having serious problems at around 200k or so. I don't like the thought of working on a head that I can't replace for less than $1000 when I can buy an entire bmw engine for $500. But safety is a little more important to me now. I had a 190 Mercedes totalled out from under me last year, I'm kindof a different driver now. Safety was not the first thing that bmw had in mind when they built that car. - no SRS.
OR; Buy a turbo 745; I'll have to buy it, It's still a quirky volvo but it is very safe and fast. Most likely an automatic though. I hate autos especially the very shifty AW's. What kinda money am I looking at for a turbo 745? I'm guessing about $3k or so if I get a deal on it.

MONEY;
could sell it and stick $500 - $1000 in my pocket after I pay loan off and also save about $1000 in the next 12 mo. on full coverage ins. opposed to just liability ins. on beamer (bought with cash; $1200).

Any thoughts appreciated
thanks
- Nate
