Good afternoon Folks,
Here is the update on the 960 that I asked your opinions on last week in Texas.
We finally drove it on Friday, and found the following issues:
1. Driver's seat leather (hiding under a sheepskin) was torn in several places. (the passengers was worn but not through the leather.
2. The drivers seat power feature didn't work correctly (as it moved forward, the seat would twist toward the passenger side of the car, and would eventually bind to the point where it wouldn't move forward anymore).
3. Driver's side window wouldn't move up or down (but the motor would run in both directions). The window also slowly began to slide down as the car was driven.
4. The odometer stopped at 167K (so not sure what the true mileage is).
5. Floor mats missing.
6. Small crack on the end tank on the driver's side top of the radiator.
7. The A/C compressor cycled on and off as if it was low on refrigerant.
8. A miscellaneous rattle underneath the car on acceleration (sounded like a heat shield vibration).
9. Pulsing front rotors under braking.
10. Broken turn signal lense.
Other than that, the car was very solid.
However, we've found a nice, low mileage '93 945 that we are picking up this evening. So........we will not be purchasing the 960.
Anyone interested in the 960? It has it's original white paint (looks great w/no rust and only a couple of minor dings) and tan leather. Besides the driver's side seat, it looks really sharp!
The company is asking $2K for the car. It's in Belton, Texas (about an hour north of Austin). The name of the company is South Main Auto Sales. The contact is Bill Boren (a good 'ole boy) who can be reached at 254.760.1753.
I haven't ran a carfax on it since we decided to go with the 940, but the VIN # for the car is YV1KS9509N0022130.
Thanks again for the advice everyone!
Have a great week.
Mike
