Help Diagnose this sound

Hi all. 86 volvo 240dl. I suddenly have aquired a new noise on my drivetrain. Not engine related as I have driven/tested by putting in neutral, shutting off motor etc and the noise appears drivetrain related and not engine.
all fluids are fine.

. sounds when moving real slow is non existent, to a rrrrrrrrrr
. after I get to speed, 35 mph plus, it turns to a whine or whistle
. if i hit my brakes, the sounds deminishes as my speed diminishes, and then picks up with more acceleration.
. no vibration in handling, steering wheel solid at 70mph
. the sounds appear to be coming from up front and not drive shaft, but i did not think a bearing would have a whistling sound?

I purchased the car 2 months ago from original owner, dealer maintained. The car has approx 100k on it. the rt front wheel bearing was changed by the dealer at 87k. Any ideas?

What should I visually check for once up on jack stands?

Thanks everyone.
