Looking for exact explanation of function of EZK 177 components? J. Sargent? 700 1988

I'm going over all the connections and components in the ignition system but I have to confess I do not know the exact function of all the components. If you are an EZK expert, could you explain exactly what power stage and the control unit do and when? Does the power stage unit take over when in boost?
