loss of power... HELP!!!! 200 1988

alright, i have an '88 240 with a B230 and a AW70 tranny, and for the past couple of days, it has been bogging down if i rev the engine past 3000 rpm...if i try, it seems to lose even more power... i was assuming that it was a partially blocked cat, but just today, it severely bogged down, and when i stopped, it wouldnt rev past 1500 rpms... and there was a screeching sound that would also happen... i had to get the car towed, so now im stuck... any help would be GREATLY appreciated...
