1996 960 Radio question 900 1996

My 96 960 Sedan Radio has no AM reception and receives only the strongest FM stations. I believe that I have a short in the cable that runs from the radio into the trunk as an ohm meter shows only about 2 ohms of resistence between the center conductor and the shield when both the radio and the antenna are disconnected from this cable. Can anyone confirm that I should have an open circuit (as opposed to a short circuit) indication in this configuration? Also, there appears to be a movable inductive loading coil on the end of the cable in the trunk. Can anyone confirm that this is what I am seeing? I will shortly try a substitute cable and advise of results.
