Speedometer Transmitter 200 1990

My speedometer works sporadically. I think bumps in the road affect its performance. I think it is the transmitter, but I welcome any other suggestions. When it works, it is okay and accurate. Is it hard to change the transmitters? Also, I know one is in the differential, but is the other behind the instrument cluster? Thanks for any suggestions!
