Mobil 1 Synthetic 0W-40 OR Mobil 1 Synthetic 0W-30? PLEASE HELP!! 700

Hello guys!

Does anyone know if the new mobil 1 Synthetic 0W-40 motor oil is any good for my 88 740 GLE (non turbo 8 VALVE) 185,000 MILES/AW-70 TRANNY? I know about Amsoil, but as an emergency basis, i was considering Mobil 1 0W-40. Also upon viewing M1 website, they stated that this weight is energy conservative. Would i be better off sticking with 10W-30, 5W-30. Or between 0W-30 and or 0W-40? Is the 0W-30 OR 0W-40 way too much of a viscosity index gap or what? They specified the 0W-40 as being more configured to European autos. please help.
