Removal or disconnection of SRS system. 700 1988

I just got a 1988 744Ti to replace my totalled 764Ti. The SRS doesn't work. I don't really care, since I don't like airbags anyway. How would I go about disconnecting it or removing it completely?

After all is done, would I be able to fit the steering wheel from a non-SRS 740 on?
