I need to find out more about the side-to-side movement of the shift lever on my 1986 240 DL sedan with automatic transmission. It has all kinds of slop in it from side to side to the point that it doesn't stay engaged with the start interlock switch (the switch that prevents the car from starting in anything except PARK or NEUTRAL positions).
How is the selector lever knob removed from the shaft?
