HELP DUMB TRANSMISSION LEAK & ? 200 1984

this might sound like a dumb ?,the deal is that on my 1984 DL I put a new transmission (filter) and GASKET, but now this gasket is leaking.the way I installed it was, I put the gasket with a very thin coat of "gasket maker" and tightened all the bolts, and retightened them after it kept leaking but the darn thing is still leaking. has this happened to you? or do you have any suggestions on making this freaking leak stop. by the way I changed the gasket 'cause it was leaking in the first place...?:/ I appreciate any help, thanks lots.
