Got the '89 245 200 1989

Thanks to the supportive advice from Matt, Bob, Dave, and Zee, I swallowed my M46 pride and offered on the '89 245 with AW. They took my offer of $850. It's rust free, with 125,000 miles. It's got a driver's door window out of track, a rear tailgate which will ultimately need replacing (though I can live with it for a while), an inoperative temp. gauge, inoperative blower motor and heater temp. control, needs a new axle exhaust pipe, new rear shocks, and the flame trap system cleaned out. I'll also put on a new water pump, new timing belt and tensioner, new front end seals. When the weather warms up, I'll move over all my rear suspension bits from my '83. By the time I'm done, I'll probably have $1400 or $1500 in it, but it should be good for another 125,000 from that point on. Still don't know whether it's worth the trouble to move my M46 (and software) over to replace the AW...

Gees, driving 240s has got to be the most inexpensive way to go on four wheels.
