Little Sister Needs Help!!!! 200 1989

She owns a 240, 1989 vintage volvo....

Is it correct to ground the center coil wire when turning over the engine and not wanting the car to start? That's what I advised her but a friend suggested that proceedure was not recommended.

I know that leaving the wire disconnected is bad because it doesn't allow the 20K volts to go anywhere...

Any thoughts on the correct proceedure?
