All dash lights are on; SRS light blinking; alternator recently replaced 700 1990

I drive a 1990 760 Turbo that's been pretty reliable for me. This morning I had a problem on the way to work in that all of the dash lights came on and the SRS (airbag) light was flashing. Is this a problem with the alternator? I just had it replaced this past Summer. The battery is another problem; It's 60 months into it's 72 month life span. I'd like to have a general idea of what the problem might be because there aren't too many Volvo specialist in my area (outside of the dealer, and I'm trying to avoid them, if at all possible.)
