Rear Brake Growl 200 1990

I have a low growl from the rear brakes ONLY when I start to brake from a higher speed. If I push on the brake rather firmly there is NO growl. Is it the pads? Rear brakes on this 240 are disc, right? Not, drums? I can change disc, but drum brakes always gave me trouble. Any insight would be helpful.
