Cant open my bonnet!!

Bonnet = front hood covering the motor (im not sure what its called in the states)

anyway i cant open it.

It could be ice but i had the car out for ½ an hour and it still wouldnt open.
It lifts up on the left side but the right doesnt budge.

Anyone got any ideas, hints or tricks? (kettle of hot water didnt work and ive had my motor warmer on for6 hrs without change)
I would be extremely grateful
