After surviving 15 years of Minnesota weather, it is no surprise that my 1986 760 turbo has some rust on it. This rust has formed mostly on the metal surrounding the windshield, going under the trim, and, unfortunately, the glass company tells me they cannot replace my windshield until the rust is taken care of. I would probably be able to take care of the rust myself anywhere else on the car, but since it goes under the trim, and actually right to the corner where the windshild meets the metal, maybe even between a-pillar and windshield, this presents a bigger problem.

My question is - How can
I get at this rust? Would it be smart to take off the trim and attack it? I am afraid that I would see the windshield needed to be taken out in order to completely rid it of rust. Talked to Maaco, and they said 200-400 dollars would fix it. That is a little more than I am looking to spend.

If anyone has dealt with this problem in the past, any help would be wonderful, hopefully the cost of fixing the rust won't stop me from getting my windshield replaced. Thanks much for any advice!
