Update on no start problem with bad news 700

Saturday, i took the liberty of changing my main fuel pump. While changing it, I noticed that there was no fuel in the hose coming from the tank. I thought it probably all drained out earlier. Well, after 3 hours of playing around with gas fumes and such, i finished the job. I set everything back up and went to go and start the car.

Thats when i realize my in-tank pump is dead, too! No fuel to main pump, no fuel pressure, no start.

I think what happened was I was driving from Jacksonville (where my girlfriend and I use to live, 153 miles from Tallahassee) and somewhere during the trip my in-tank pump died. After I parked the car and let it sit for a bit, the fuel that was in the line lost its suction and went back to the tank. In the morning, the main pump still had enough fuel in the line to provide the car with gas for about 10 seconds. Thats how long the car ran before it died. When the fuel ran out, the main pump had nothing but air to suck and thus the car died. During my dianogstics, the main pump somehow died as well...probably from just sucking air for a bit and the fact that its 15 years 156,000 miles old.

SO, after a 2 day "figure-out-what-the-hell-is-wrong" time, i changed the main pump only to find out i have to wait another 3 days to get the in-tank pump in the mail and install it as well. Luckily, this next one seems a bit easier. The main pump had some problems with completly rusted screws. I figure i'm saving $500 by purchasing the pumps and doing it by my self. I got a quote from a independent shop saying both pumps would cost $750 to fix, including parts.

One more word: DAMNIT!!
