Cruise Control 200 1990

While using my cruise control in a somewhat hilly area of Conn., the cruise came off on its own and popped the 8 amp. fuse. I replaced the fuse and the next day in high wind, the cruise popped the fuse again. I checked the FAQ and nothing specific to help. I checked for cracked vacuum lines. What else could be going on?
