TYPE F TRANNY FLUID OR DEXRON3 ATF FOR POWER STEERING? 700

Hello guys!

My vehicle information booklet to my 1989 760GLE specifically states that I use Type F tranny fluid for my power steering, and then I have read else where that I should be using Dexron 3. I have always thought that type F applied to earlier models, whereas Dexron 3 applied to the newer models, from the mid 80's and up? HELP!!!
