Finally removed the head.. 200 1985

Boy I wish I could spare more than an hour at a time to fix this beast.. anyhow, the head's on the floor (after denting my knee nicely). What a sight. The head gasket was completely gone between all of the cylinders, the valves are more or less covered in carbon, as are the piston tops. The piston crowns are completely blackened. Funny thing is that the throttle body wasn't too dirty.

Question is, how do I get the carbon off the pistons? It would be a shame to stick a freshly cleaned head onto a block in that condition..
