I stripped a water pump stud 200

The nightmare continues. I reinstalled a good top seal on my new water pump ( I damaged the one that came with the pump) and put the water pump back on the block. When I snugged up the bolts I ended up stripping the stud/nut next to the timing belt cover. Either it stripped or the stud broke loose in the block and is just spinning. I know I didn't apply anywhwere near the 16 ft/lb torque requirement when it let loose. I turned a relatively easy job into a fiasco.

Do I have any recourse or should I have the car towed to the shop for repair? I could put things back together and drive it there but they will have to take everything apart again. This job has really dampened my "do it yourself if you want it done right attitude". And to think my 92 245 needs a new timing belt (and water pump in 2,000 miles).
