I've got a B30F head I'm going to put on to solve the broken
manifold stud issue on my existing B30A. I had it rebuilt a
couple years ago and then I put it on a shelf in my office at
work (people here don't seem to ask many questions).
Anyhow, I'm going to put freeze plugs and RTV over the injector
holes. I didn't have hardened valve seats put in but then I don't
plan on running my B30 at over 4500rpms for long periods of
time. This manifold has some wacky bosch thingy sticking out of
the side that sticks into the waterjacket. It's silver and has
two heater hose sized holes sticking out of it.
Is this some intake heater sort of thing? Does it open when
the coolant gets warm and allow water to flow through it?
Does it close when it gets warm and prevent air from flowing
from one side to the other? Will I need to plug it off or
route a hose from one port to the other or can I just leave
it sitting there?
I may eventually make my car fuel injected by using a d-jet
manifold, injectors, fuel rail/fuel pressure regulator and a
megasquirt control system so I don't want to remove anything
that may be useful later.
