940 fuel economy take 2 900

I bought the 940 wagon about 6 months ago. I went away on vacation for two months after being layed off. So I haven't done much maintence on it. I changed the air filter when I first got it, and put a new water pump, timing belt, and accessory belts on a couple weeks ago. My next step is to stop the check engine light from coming on 1-2 times per fill up. I believe the 02 sensor is headed south. Is there a way to test these? The check engine light doesn't stay on for long. I never seem to be in a place where I can check the code to see exactly what it is. I'm also due for plugs, wires, cap etc in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone have any other tune up recommendations?
-Gil
Thanks for all the help so far.
