Got my 85 244 going after it was buried in snow and sitting up for too long whilst i was overseas> > >anyway it wouldn't go at first but after i replaced the 25a fuel-fuse and the spark plugs( as they were oil fouled) it now runs> > >at first it poured out oil, then that stopped after putting in some leak/smoke stuff> > >but it still sends out black smoke each time it is started, it turns to a finer gray after it warms up though> > >i was told, and from lookin' about, that the oil plugs/seals on the crankcase are both gone> > >the front one seems easy enough to do but the rear seems a bit more complicated> > >but in addition to replacing them is there anything i should look at doing right away> > >????

also unrelated to that my shifter seems to be gone all whacky, and reverse makes a lot more noise then i remember, when i shift it(foot on the brake of course)from reverse-park sometimes it makes a terrible grinding sound, and it doesn't sound too much better in gear> > >could it just be old trans fluid??

any helpful hints and suggestions are appreciated
thankx
