Hello,
After an exhaustive search, replacing cap rotors, plugs, flex hose, cleaning throttle body and idle motor, and replacing fuel filter, to chase down rough idle and 1200rpm idle, we have figured it out. Rough idle- spark plug in cylinder number three was not gapped properly- way to close. Secondly, a prior mechanic apparently stuck a screwdriver in the idle valve to get it to move and left a burr on it. The burr was catching on the housing and would not allow it to move. We used a Dremel tool to remove the burr and idle dropped down.
Now, however, when the car starts, it revs up to 2000rpms and then drops to 850 rpms over about a 5 to 7 second time frame. What could be going on?
