'83 240 Wiring Harness is TOAST! 200 1983

My '83 240 DL wagon decided that it was going to smoke the engine wiring harness, creating a nice little fire! I was able to put it out quickly, but the wiring is shot. From looking at the BrickBoard FAQs, I can see that this is a common problem (Doh!).

Well, obviously the engine would not start after that. When I got it home, I put it up on jackstands to survey the damage. About a 1 foot section of wiring was burned up, under the crank and leading up to the top of the engine near the distributor. I spliced in replacements for all the burnt wires, using automotive grade wire, solder and heatshrink (used to be an electronics tech, before I started doing networks). I am going to have to pull off the intake and replace the knock sensor and temp sensor, the knock sensor terminal is broken off, and the temp sensor wiring is bare.

So now the engine cranks just fine, I get spark, and I jumpered the fuse block to test the fuel pump, it is running. But the engine remains dead. The Lambda Sonde warning light on the dash is on, so something is not right. Since I am getting spark, my guess is that no fuel is getting through the injectors.

Troubleshooting the wiring with the Haynes book I have is damn near impossible, and the local Volvo dealership says they don't have a good wiring diagram or repair manual to sell me. The most I can glean from the book I have is that there are some test procedures for the ECU involving LED codes, but I can't find anything in my car like that. I tried to buy wiring diagrams from the sources listed here, but the sites are dead.

Can anybody recommend a a source for decent manuals and/or wiring diagrams for my beast? Any ideas where to go from here? I can't spend the fortune it would cost to replace the wiring harness (almost $500), and pay the $75/hr shop rate to have it installed. Maybe the ECU is toast?

Thanks for any help!
