i had previously posted this but cannot find it anywhere.........thanks to the one person that di make a comment. anyway, i have an '88 244 that i'm thinking of selling since i no longer have a need for it. i've replced/checked the distributor car, rotor, plugs, wires are fine, etc.....it it very difficult to start and when it does, it's very rough. after i get it started and try to take off, it bucks, backfires internally, NO power and just doesn't want to run. when i do get it running and get up to speed, i can feel it lurching slightly. the filter is fine and the pump checked ok. my volvo shop said the problem is in the AMM and ECU. these parts are not cheap. anyway, i was playing around with it and pulled the engine side connection hose of the idle air motor and it ran as smooth as silk while the idle continued to increase. i have a feeling that i would only need to replace the AMM and not ECU. anyone experience this before or can offer help???
