I have a 1989 240 wagon (automatic) that recently has experienced Intermittent no-start. The symptoms are similar to a dead battery - almothing nothing works, and the dim dome light extinguishes when you hit the starter, and takes a while to recover. The radio has yet to loose its preset stations, however. All the grounds appear to be connected (engine-firewall, batter-chassis, and battery-engine). The hot connections to the battery appear good, and THE 25A fuse and holder appear to be in good shape. Twice the car has simply just "come out of it" and started normally, and twice it has responded to a jump start (both of these times there was not enough energy available to lift the elec. locks). The alternator appears to respond to increased loads (lights, fan, etc.) once the car is running. The car sees a lot of road salt, if that gives any clues. Gremlins?? Any ideas out there???
