'87 740 and 90' 740 Radio Models TD-6141 Wiring Different, Need Help 700

My 87' 740 died last fall (bad ZF Transmission) and I replaced it with a 90' 740. Last week the 90' LCD display went black, day or nite. From the FAQs, this is probably the florescent lit model TD-6141. Anyway, the 87' has a good TD-6141 so I thought I would do a swap, however the wiring is different. They are both TD-6141. The 90 has a female plug on the bottom of the radio and the equivalent wires on the 87' go somewhere, I don't know where. I cut them on the 87' to get the radio out easily. I'd appreciate any help converting the 87' to use the 90' wiring. I have a 740 Haynes and 740 Chilton but the wiring doesn't match in my books. The actual wiring follows, thanks for any help:

90' 740
female plug no. and color
-------------------------
6-yellow/white (one wire)
7-green/brown (one wire)
8-green (one wire)
9-black and yellow/black (two wires)
10-black (one wire)
12-red (one wire)

87' 740
---------

grey
blue
orange
