Last year, we had an intermittent problem with our 740 that ended up being caused by the fuel pump. In the course of repairing the car, I discovered that I could smell gas on the vacuum side of the fuel pressure regulator (it was original) - so I replaced it, among a few other things.

Ultimately, I started getting a soft code, where the 'Check Engine' light would come on if the car sat idling for any length of time (usually worse if the engine is under load, like when the A/C compressor is running), but it would go out after the ignition was turned off and the engine restarted. Today, I was told that I have 10 lbs too much fuel pressure. My question is whether the pressure regulator is a simple bolt on replacement - or is there also some other adjustment that one needs to make when you replace it, that I am not aware of. By the way, the code that occasionally gets stored (doesn't store a code every time) is a #143, which I have not been able to find a listing for.
