Swapping fuel gauges 700

All,

Anybody have any idea whether fuel gauges from different year 700/900 cars can be swapped?

Specifically, I have an '85 745 and a '94 945. The 945 has a little "you're low on fuel light" that is really helpful when I don't drive the car all of the time. My '85 doesn't. I was hoping to find a gauge with a light and put it into the '85.
