700 vs. 900

Hello all,

I have been looking for a 700 series car for a friend. Personally, I own a 1989 740GL and I love the car. But, the more cars I am seeing, the more vivid is my realization that most 700 cars are by now old and worn out. Most cars I have seen are in excess of 150kMi. Myself, I am fine with that, and am getting to fix my steed's AC, as we cross the big 200kMi. She would like something with lowers miles.
So, I have turned to the 900 series. Can I get some feedback on the 700 vs. 900 series cars? Is there a diminished reliability? What areas? Is there a shart increase in cost of maintenance? How? Also, I would appreciate things to avoid, and thing to look for. Please be as broad or as narrow as you want to be, I would like to hear any and ALL opinions, to be as well researches as possible.

Thanks,
Greg
