New Front Shocks/Struts for 745T?? 700

I need to get new front struts/shocks for my 1990 745T Wagon. I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but could anyone here give their opinion on the best shocks to get.

I've had Bilstien in the past on other cars and plan to lean towards them, but I would get the standard model, not the sport. Does anyone have an opinion on any other brands (KYB, BOGE, KONI, etc.)?

I also have a slight clunk which the shop tells me is the strut mount on the drivers side - anything special I should know about this?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice/opinions.
