excessive brake pedal travel 900 1991

My wife's '91, 940 Turbo with ABS seems to have (mechanic agrees) excessive brake pedal travel. Everything works fine but the brake pedal ends up within 4 cm of the floor boards with full brake. The top half of the travel seems to do nothing. This was a gradual onset thing. No lights came on, no pull on braking, stopping distance fine. New discs and pads about 12,000 km ago (200,000 Km on the clock). Needless worry?
